Dementia Friendly HHD Solicitors

We are proud to announce that our Apprentice Solicitor, Naomi Woods, recently became a Dementia Community Champion for the firm following training with the Alzheimer’s Society to expand her knowledge of the disease and how it can affect people and at HHD Solicitors we are working towards becoming Dementia Friendly alongside the Alzheimer’s Society.

Currently in Northern Ireland, there are over 20,400 people living with Dementia – around 35% do not have a formal diagnosis. By 2021, it is estimated that there will be over 1 million people living with Dementia in the UK.

We aim to empower our staff with knowledge and awareness of dementia to make our staff more confident and aware when dealing with all clients. Our staff will have greater understanding of scenarios that may arise and consequently can provide improved customer service to enhance customer experiences. We are working to make changes in our firm now to be prepared for the increasing needs of our clients and staff.

We feel it is our responsibility to ensure our clients’ rights and feelings are protected and that access to our services are not barred. We aim to be an inclusive firm and are prepared to make reasonable adjustments for our clients to enhance their experience.

In the coming months, we will be working towards becoming Dementia friendly by holding staff training sessions, creating sector-specific fact sheets and providing information for our clients via the website.

Should you have any queries regarding the above or require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact our Naomi Woods directly on 02890 770 770 or naomiwoods@hhdsolicitors.com.
