Case study – RTA high speed impact with livestock

HHD solicitor: Fiona Sterritt, partner, specialising in personal injury claims

What happened:  Our client was a driver involved in a serious collision at high speed with a cow who had wandered onto the motorway. Any animal kept as livestock which escapes from its enclosure poses a danger to the public, particularly to motorists if the animal strays onto the road.  Escaped livestock such as cattle, sheep and pigs have been known to cause road traffic accidentsbest whiplash solicitor in belfast

How HHD solicitors helped: The photograph shows how badly our client’s car was damaged – the roof of our client’s car was ripped off by the speed of the impact and our client found pieces of mutilated cow inside his vehicle and all over his person – a highly traumatic experience. On behalf of Mr D we confirmed the identity of the farmer who owned the livestock and also his insurance coverage. We pursued a claim for the extensive physical and psychological injuries that Mr D suffered from. We also recovered compensation for his loss of earnings and recoupment for all the private medical treatment that Mr D required. We arranged private physiotherapy for Mr D free of charge.

We obtained compensation for Mr D at no cost to him and he was delighted with the amount of compensation received. If you have been involved in an accident with an animal which has caused you an injury you may be entitled to make a personal injury claim for compensation.  To find out more about how our specialist personal injury lawyers could help you, please email on carolinedunlop@hhdsolicitors.com
