Facing redundancy: know your rights and your options

We understand that facing redundancy can feel overwhelming. At HHD our expert employment solicitors can offer advice on your rights as an employee and on any proposed compromise agreement.

We can negotiate on your behalf with your employer, and ultimately represent you at the employment tribunal should this be required.

What are you entitled to?

If you have been employed for two or more years you will be entitled to a statutory redundancy payment.

You may be entitled to an enhanced sum if this is provided for in your contract of employment.

Have you been consulted?

Employers must follow ‘collective consultation’ rules if they are making 20 or more employees redundant within any 90-day period at a single establishment.

If employers do not consult employees in a redundancy situation, any redundancies made will almost certainly be unfair and could proceed to an employment tribunal.

Fee arrangements

Employers typically make a contribution towards legal fees in relation to compromise agreements. Contact us at enquiries@hhdsolicitors.com for further information or see here for further services we provide on employment law.
