Eimear O’Donoghue

Assistant Solicitor

Eimear O’Donoghue joined HHD Solicitors in 2020 as a Paralegal and qualified as a Solicitor in 2023.  She works across our Litigation and Criminal Defence teams helping clients with a range of issues from personal injury claims and legacy litigation to human rights cases.  Eimear defends clients from police station right through to the Crown Court across Northern Ireland providing clear, supportive guidance every step of the way.

She has experience as a Legal Aid practitioner and can advise on all aspects of civil and criminal Legal Aid including securing exceptional funding for inquests.

Eimear is known for her approachable manner and thorough approach, always ensuring her clients feel listened to and supported.

Eimear graduated from Queen’s University Belfast with a Degree in Law and Politics.  During her studies, she earned a scholarship to attend the Fordham Law Summer School where she studied conflict resolution and human rights.

She then went on to complete a Masters in International Law at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, graduating in 2019.  Alongside her studies, Eimear interned with a criminal defence team at an international criminal tribunal in The Hague.  She worked on a high-profile case defending an intelligence officer accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity during the conflict in the former Yugoslavia.

During her traineeship, Eimear represented the Institute of Professional Legal Studies in the Stetson International Environmental Law Moot Competition in April 2023.  The competition, held in Florida explored issues of deep-sea mining and piracy.

Since November 2024, Eimear has been an elected committee member of the Belfast Solicitors Association, reflecting her commitment to the legal community.
